The relevant DIN standards for TENTE wheels and castors
This standard specifies the terms and formula symbols used for wheels and castors. The standard also defines the components of wheels and their constituent parts and describes the axle and mounting options of a wheel. Furthermore, DIN EN 12526 contains a description of the castor and the housing.
DIN EN 12527
DIN EN 12527 is a standard that describes the procedures for testing wheels and castors. It specifies both the test apparatus and the test methods. The standard defines, for example, the testing of electrical resistance, wheel or directional detection, dynamic and static testing and much more.
The following standards specify these requirements for different groups of wheels and castors.
DIN EN 12528
The standard DIN EN 12528 specifies which technical, dimensional and testing requirements must be met by furniture castors. Castors for swivel chairs and other special applications are not included.
DIN EN 12529
In accordance with the previous standard, DIN EN 12529 specifies the technical and testing requirements as well as dimensions for castors that are usually used on swivel chairs. The standard covers castors with and without braking devices.
DIN EN 12530
This standard defines requirements and dimensions for equipment castors and manually operated wheels and castors used in public facilities such as hotels, restaurants, schools or hospitals.
DIN EN 12531
For requirements and dimensions of hospital bed castors the standard DIN EN 12531 applies. Specifically, this standard refers to swivel castors for hospital beds with a wheel diameter of 100 mm or more and a central locking device. Other swivel castors of similar dimensions can also be used according to this standard.
DIN EN 12532
Transport castors up to a speed of 1.1 m/s or 4 km/h are covered by the DIN EN 12532 standard. Not included in the standard are wheels and castors for furniture and office chairs and for devices, hospital beds and powered applications.
DIN EN 12533
DIN EN 12533 regulates heavy-duty wheels and castors - including accessories - for mechanical or power-driven applications with speeds between 1.1 or 4.4 m/s and 4 or 16 km/h. Drive wheels and pneumatic-tyred wheels are not included.
