The "Red Dot" is a globally recognised hallmark of quality.
Evaluation criteria for the Red Dot Design Award
The Red Dot Award: Product Design has only had its current name since 2000. It used to be awarded under the name of Design Innovations. Every summer, in Essen, products from a wide variety of sectors are awarded the Red Dot quality seal. The winners are selected by a jury of renowned experts from all over the world, whose members change every year. Well-known former jurors were Malaysian shoemaker Jimmy Choo, German designer Rido Busse and British architect and designer Roy Fleetwood.
The evaluation criteria are also constantly adapted to new findings about technical, social, economic and ecological requirements. The degree of innovation, functionality and formal design quality are scrutinised, in addition to ergonomics, durability and the symbolic and emotional content of the product. Further criteria are the product periphery, ecological compatibility and the extent to which the product is self-explanatory.
Red dot for excellent casters from TENTE
Some of the innovative TENTE wheels have already won the Red Dot Design Award: These include the Smiles, Linea e-lock, Decora, Aviana and Integral caster series as well as the swivel casters from the 2940 series. The Smiles caster series, with its friendly faces, was specially developed for children's rooms. The colorful plastic casters with the jolly cat, bear or airplane designs add a fun aspect to almost all children's furniture and are also robust enough to survive play time.
The Linea e-lock makes daily routines easier for nursing and care staff: This hospital bed caster is equipped with a motorized locking system, which allows the brake to be applied via an electric control system instead of a pedal. When it comes to casters for care beds, the Decora plastic caster fulfils the more demanding esthetic requirements. It implements the most demanding design and technical requirements.
The excellent twin wheel caster of the Aviana is one of the best in international product design. This quiet and smooth running caster received the Red Dot Design Award for the high quality of its design. The simple, elegant design of the Integral hospital bed caster and the 2940 series swivel caster also attracted awards.
