Properties of roller bearings
The roller bearing belongs to the group of rolling bearings, one of the most common types of bearing. In contrast to plain bearings, which form the second large group, rolling bearings have an outer and inner ring, between which the friction resistance is reduced by rolling bodies. The roller bearing has a lower installation height than other bearings and a high load-bearing capacity. They have a relatively low rolling resistance. Roller bearings are low-maintenance and durable under normal operating conditions as they are lubricated with a long-term grease.
Like plain bearings, the roller bearing is usually used for transport equipment that is moved at low speed. The travel speed of castors equipped with a roller bearing should not exceed about 4 km/h.
